Judgments

activism, art, photography

During my first year in college, Judgments, an art piece I made while still in high school, went massively viral. It hit Huffpost, the Daily Mail, the New Statesman, and dozens of newspapers across Canada, Turkey, China, Mexico, and the Ukraine – (pre-scandal) Jian Ghomeshi even interviewed me about it

Then, bizarrely, in late 2013, a neo-fascist Belgian political party plagiarized the piece for the cornerstone of an anti-Islam propaganda campaign meant to leverage feminism against nonwhite immigrants.   I ended up flying to Belgium for two weeks in the middle of my second year of university to fight Vlaams Belang in court – and won. The Thunderbird wrote a good summary.
